Il Coro della
Chiesa di St. Cassiano si compone di circa
35 elementi, sia musicisti professionisti
che di volontari ed appassionati della
musica sacra. Ad esattamente 15 anni dal
primo viaggio musicale in Italia, il coro ha
il piacere di ritornare a Roma e di esibirsi
questa volta nella meravigliosa cornice
della Basilica di SantIgnazio di Loyola.
Inoltre, il Coro prova stabilmente ogni
settimana ed anima la liturgia della Messa
domenicale nella Chiesa di St. Cassiano,
presso Upper Montclair, nel New Jersey.
Il Maestro Stephen Powers nasce a Buffalo,
New York, e si diploma nel 1990 presso la
prestigiosa scuola di Musica Westminster
Choir College, presso Princeton, New Jersey,
dove studia musica sacra, organo e direzione
corale. Sempre in questa scuola, nel 1993
approfondisce gli studi musicali conseguendo
ulteriori specializzazioni. Da ben 26 anni
il Maestro Stephen Powers θ direttore di
musica e durante la sua carriera ha prestato
servizio per quattro parrocchie nello stato
del New Jersey. Dal 2003 Stephen Powers
dirige il Coro della Chiesa di San Cassiano,
presso Upper Montclair, New Jersey.
The Choir of St. Cassian Church is composed
of 35 singers ranging from volunteers to
professional singers. The group has sung and
toured Italy, and is making a return exactly
15 years later to the day. The choir
rehearses weekly and provides beautiful
music every Sunday at 10:30 Mass for the
parishioners in Upper Montclair, New Jersey.
Stephen Powers, a native of Buffalo, New
York is a graduate of Westminster Choir
College in Princeton, New Jersey, where he
studied sacred music, organ performance, and
choral conducting graduating in 1990. He
returned for graduate studies at the same
school in 1993. In his 26th year as a music
Director he has served at 4 Roman Catholic
parishes in New Jersey, current at St.
Cassian in Upper Montclair, New Jersey Since
2013.
